Our Rescue Partners

Join us in Lifesaving Collaboration

We value strong collaboration with rescue partners and other shelters to save animal lives throughout our community. San Diego Humane Society cares for companion animals at four campuses located in San Diego, El Cajon, Escondido and Oceanside. Our team is dedicated to working with our colleagues in the rescue community. We welcome all inquiries from our rescue partners and invite your organization to become an official Rescue Partner with SDHS, which offers several benefits.

San Diego Humane Society has transferred in thousands of animals from other shelters, so we understand the importance of maintaining clear, consistent communication and protocols.

We work toward continuous refinement on best practices for coordinating animal transfers between us and our animal welfare colleagues, always striving to find the best possible solutions for all animals.

If you have suggestions on how we can continue improving collaboration and communication, please reach out to [email protected].

Cross-Promoting Adoptable Animals

San Diego Humane Society believes all animals deserve to find a home as quickly as possible, regardless of which shelter or rescue group they’re temporarily residing in. To help them find homes, we frequently feature adoptable animals from our Rescue Partners on our social media channels.

Animals can be posted on one or more of the following: Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram. Consideration for animal posts is based on the order submissions are received. All posts and timing are up to the discretion of San Diego Humane Society.

Process for submission:

We will consider all requests submitted to [email protected]. Please only submit animals who have been in your care for longer than 30 days.

Please submit:

  • A summary about the pet (including age, breed and descriptive information)
  • A flyer or other promotional materials
  • Photos and/or video
  • Link to the animal's profile
