Full instructions are sent via email immediately after application is submitted:

1. Complete online training
2. View animals on the portal
3. Submit your request to be matched

Foster Training 

Online training courses must be completed prior to fostering a pet. Courses are accessible in your My Impact account, under My Profile  -> Training and in the Opportunities tab

1. Foster Team - The Basics (required) - A general overview of foster policies and guidelines for all pets
2. Species Courses (at least one required) - Complete a species course to qualify as a foster home for that type of animal (not required to do all species courses).
3. Specialty Assignment Courses (optional) - You also have the option to do specialty Safety Net, Adoption Ambassador, Medical or Behavior assignments too! If interested, complete the online training for that type of assignment - More details about each of these types of assignments are in their online courses.

How to Get Matched with a Pet

Submit the online request form, accessible in your My Impact account, in the news box and opportunities tab.

Accessing the volunteer news box in My Impact

The news box is a helpful tool with easy access links to resources. To find your news box:

• Log into your My Impact account and go to the Home page. This is usually the first page that comes up after logging in.
• Click the header that says "SDHS - Foster" to expand it
• Scroll down to review the information!
