Host a Fundraising Event
One of the most meaningful ways you can support our lifesaving work is by hosting a fundraiser!
Raising funds for a cause close to your heart is a powerful way to spread compassion, inspire others and make a lasting impact on animals and people in our community.
To help you get started, here are some helpful tips to make your event a success!
Choose the Right Event for Your Group
Plan an event that fits with the size, interests, skills, goals and availability of your group or business. It's also important that events align with San Diego Humane Society's mission and values.
Plan Ahead for Success
We highly recommend scheduling fundraising events 6–8 weeks in advance. Giving yourself ample time not only ensures smoother logistics but also allows for better promotion — both of which can significantly boost your event's impact.
Set a Fundraising Goal and Strategy
Aim to raise at least $500 and create a thoughtful plan to reach your goal. Consider options like donating a portion of the event proceeds, hosting engaging activities (such as trivia or bingo), involving local vendors willing to donate their goods or services, or exploring other creative fundraising ideas.
See the Difference You Make
Every dollar raised by your event will provide shelter, medical care, emergency rescue and more for animals in need. Your event isn't just a fundraiser — it's a lifeline for thousands of vulnerable pets throughout our community.
Enjoy the Process
Fundraising should be fulfilling and fun! Embrace the planning process and make the event an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Launch a Giveback Program for Your Business
By creating a giveback program — such as donating a percentage of sales to San Diego Humane Society — you show your customers that shopping with you supports animals in need. It’s a meaningful way to align your brand with compassion and purpose.
Get started in two easy steps:
- Submit the Third-Party Events & Promotions Form:
This quick form helps us learn more about your promotion and how we can support it. - Promote Your Campaign:
Let your customers know how they can make a difference! Use social media, email newsletters, in-store signage and your website to spread the word. Once approved, we’ll feature your fundraiser on our website’s promotions page and may also highlight it in our emails or social media.

Host a Supply Drive
Caring for more than 40,000 pets and wildlife annually is a big job — and we couldn’t do it without compassionate community members like you! By hosting a supply drive, you help give animals in our care everything they need to stay happy, healthy and comfortable. Thank you for considering this meaningful way to support San Diego Humane Society.
