San Diego Humane Society Wins The 2024 Top Workplaces USA Award!

We are so excited to share that San Diego Humane Society has been named a 2024 Top Workplaces USA winner by USA TODAY!

Being named one of the nation’s Top Workplaces is an honor, and we are proud that more than 300 team members reported a culture of compassion, inclusivity and care in the survey that resulted in us receiving this award. Moreover, nearly 90% of staff reported that they feel their job is meaningful — a direct reflection of the important work that we accomplish here at San Diego Humane Society.

This achievement underscores our dedication to prioritizing our employee experience and extending the same compassion to our team members that we show the animals in our care each and every day.

One employee shared, “All the people at a shelter care about animals, but it is impressive to find leadership who care so deeply for the people. Staff support is always the number one priority. I get to work at an organization that supports me and leads in progressive animal welfare initiatives. We help animals and the community while supporting each other.

This feedback reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and caring culture that helps all of us succeed while creating a better world for animals and the people who love them.

Cheers to our amazing Pack Members and their help for their help in making San Diego Humane Society a top place to work. If you’d like to join our award-winning team, check out our available jobs!

In recognition of National Wildlife Week, San Diego Humane Society’s Project Wildlife program is urging the community to take a simple but life-saving action: check for baby opossums when encountering a deceased opossum on the roadside. During baby season, many mother opossums who are killed by cars still have living joeys in their pouch, and a quick check by a community member could save their lives.
