The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released new requirements for dogs entering or returning to the United States. Though San Diego Humane Society provides rabies vaccinations to our community’s pets, we are unable to provide the USDA-endorsed health certificate forms required under the CDC’s new guidelines. If you are planning international travel with your pet, please contact your regular veterinarian for assistance.

The new requirements go into effect on Aug. 1, 2024, and the CDC recommends starting the process 60 days in advance of traveling outside of the United States. Please visit the CDC’s website for more information, including a checklist for travel.
