Pilar & Chuck Bahde Center for Shelter Medicine

The grand opening event included a presentation of a proclamation by the City of San Diego declaring Nov. 27, 2018 as Pet Wellness Day.

The Pilar & Chuck Bahde Center for Shelter Medicine is the first of its kind in California and represents the future of shelter medicine. It will serve as a teaching hospital for advancing this emerging practice and molding shelter veterinarians of tomorrow. Expansion of the veterinary hospital at San Diego Humane Society’s San Diego Campus is vital to accommodate 40,000 companion animals the organization now cares for each year.
