FAQ
Who is eligible?
The Community Veterinary Program was created to help pet families get the affordable veterinary care they need to keep their pets healthy. Our clinics are open to the public. Anyone is eligible to access our services, and no proof of income is required. Our mobile clinics take place in neighborhoods that been identified as having the greatest need for services.
Why is the Community Veterinary Program so important? In the U.S., 70% of homes include pets. Even though pets are part of so many families, nearly 50 million pets in the U.S. aren’t able to access even basic veterinary care. Due to cost and other barriers, pets in under-resourced communities often don’t receive essential veterinary services. This can lead to health problems for pets, as well as pet families facing the heartbreaking decision to give up their animals because they can’t afford the veterinary care they need.
San Diego Humane Society is committed to helping people access affordable veterinary care, in order to keep them healthy and out of shelters.
