How do I Keep my Pets Safe From Coyotes?
A coyote might at first look like a friendly pal to your dog. To avoid Daisy being too trusting of Wiley, don’t leave your dog—or any pet—outdoors unattended. Keep coyotes in the wild instead of your yard by not feeding wildlife or leaving pet food outdoors. Build a fence at least 6 feet high, and consider outfitting it with coyote rollers. Remove all attractants from around your home, including compost, dirty grills, and birdseed; and make sure trash can lids are securely in place. Keep your pet protected with anti-coyote collars or protective spike-covered vests.
